What Lennor Ply makes and how it is made — five grades, a sixteen-station line in Hassan, Karnataka, and an open invitation to inspect it before you buy.

This is a page about a brand, so it is worth setting out what it will and will not do.

It will describe what Lennor Ply makes, where, and by what process — the things that can be checked. It will not claim a position in a market, quote a statistic we cannot show you, or tell you that one brand is the answer to every question. If you want a framework for judging any manufacturer, including this one, that article exists and it is more useful than this one.

What we make

Plywood in five grades:

Also: block boards, flush doors and decorative laminates — made on the same line, which matters when a room needs boards, doors and finishes to match.

Sizes and thicknesses: 4, 6, 9, 12, 16, 19 and 25 mm, in 8 × 4 ft (2440 × 1220 mm), 7 × 4 ft (2135 × 1220 mm) and 6 × 4 ft (1830 × 1220 mm) sheets. Panels can be cut to a custom cutting list for bulk orders.

Where we make it

At the KIADB Industrial Growth Centre in Hassan, Karnataka, with a further manufacturing unit in Bengaluru.

The full production line runs under one roof: log selection and debarking, spindle-less peeling, controlled drying, hand grading, core composing, in-house resin mixing and spreading, cold pressing, hot pressing, calibration, facing, face pressing, trimming, sanding, ACC preservative treatment, and laboratory testing.

Sixteen stations, consecutive, in one building. The practical consequence is not the number — it is that there is no transport damage between processes and no mixed-source cores.

Four things that never change

This is the part of the brand that is actually a decision, so it is worth being specific.

A composed, gap-free core. Core veneers are jointed edge-to-edge into full-size sheets before assembly, rather than laid in as loose pieces. This is the stage that determines whether a board has voids inside it — and voids are what cause loose hinges, sagging shelves and internal water paths.

Calibration across the full sheet. After pressing, twin abrasive heads grind both faces so the whole sheet is one uniform thickness. This is what keeps hinges aligned, shutter reveals even and laminates flat. It is a different operation from sanding.

ACC preservative treatment. Every board is dipped in an acid copper chromate preservative bath as a station on the line, so the treatment penetrates rather than coating the surface — which means cut edges made on site remain protected.

Laboratory testing. Samples from every batch are tested against IS:303 and IS:710 — moisture content, glue shear strength and water resistance, including a 72-hour continuous boil for BWP and Marine grades — before the batch is dispatched.

The point: these apply to MR grade as much as to Marine. The grade changes the resin. It does not change the process.

Why this matters for modern interiors

Contemporary interiors have raised the standards a board has to meet, in ways that are easy to overlook.

Modular furniture demands dimensional predictability. Parts are cut separately, often on different days, and never test-fitted until they reach site. Hinges and drawer slides have a finite adjustment range — enough to correct a small error, not enough to absorb a board that changes thickness across its own width. Calibration is what makes modular design work.

Flat, matte finishes are unforgiving. A laminate pressed onto a board with a thickness swell telegraphs it as a visible ripple, catching light at exactly the angle people notice. The current preference for large, plain surfaces makes this more visible than a busy grain ever did.

Long, uninterrupted runs are visible. A kitchen with eight identical shutters in a line shows any variation in thickness or shade immediately — which is why batch consistency matters more now than it did when kitchens were built one cabinet at a time.

Bulk and project supply

Two capabilities matter for larger jobs:

Single-batch supply. Ordering a whole interior or fit-out from one production run keeps thickness and face shade consistent across adjacent elements. Hold a small contingency for later matching.

Pre-cut sizing. Send a cutting list and panels are nested across full sheets, cut on a factory panel saw, then stacked and labelled to your list. It reduces material wastage and cuts site time substantially — most useful on repeat units.

Everything described above is a stage you can watch rather than a sentence you have to accept. Core composing, calibration, the preservative dip and the boil test are all visible in an hour. If a board does not look the way this page says it does, that is worth knowing before you buy rather than after.
